Let’s talk Platinum!
I have been getting a lot of questions and requests about going platinum.
What is platinum? Being platinum is being a solid very very light shade of blonde. There isn’t really any dimension in the color. The regrowth is extremely noticeable.
Am I ready for platinum?
I always giggle a little when people ask me this, because I usually hear it from ladies who never get their hair done. The truth about being platinum is that you’re literally in the salon every 4-6 weeks. If you don’t keep up with your appointments your blonde becomes very challenging and your color service turns into an expensive color correction. So if you dislike maintenance, or spending money and time on your hair then platinum might not be for you.
Preparing your hair for platinum...

If you decide going platinum blonde is for you I highly recommend investing in a salon quality shampoo, conditioner, and bond building treatment no matter how healthy you think your hair is. When we take you platinum we are decolorizing your hair and breaking down the melanin in it. The melanin in your hair strand is what give it it's natural pigment. Breaking down the melanin in the hair cuticle can reduce the protein in the hair which causes it to become weaker. In order to make sure your hair remains strong and healthy a bond building at-home treatment is just as important as a great salon quality shampoo and conditioner.
The process
The initial process of going platinum is definitely a color correction that typically can be done in one day if you don’t have previous color on your hair. The process takes a long time, but the results are gorgeous. We do make sure to maintain the integrity of your hair first and foremost, so if your stylist recommends sessions for your platinum it is in your best interest to follow their suggestion.
Wrapping it up!

At the end of the day platinum hair is an expensive service and definitely requires regular in and out of salon maintenance.
For my clients I offer special pricing when they come in between 4-6 weeks as incentive, sort of like a hair payment plan. Keeping up with your appointments keeps your hair healthy and blonde looking bomb!
Platinum hair is not for everyone, but those who have it, love it. Platinum hair is lots of fun; you can play with the tone, add a shadow root, do pastel color one month and be back to your gorgeous blonde the next month without any damage. If it's something you've been thinking about for a while now then Go For It! Don't do it at home, and trust your stylist. If you have any questions please feel free to drop them in the comments section and I will more than happy to answer. Thank you for reading, and happy blonding <3
